We will follow the NFHS Rules for Basketball with some exceptions:

  • We will play 4 quarters each 5 minutes in duration. A running clock will be in effect during the second half if there is a point differential of thirty (30) points or more, except when shooting free throws. The clock will not run during free throws.
  • If teams are tied at the end of regulation, the overtime will be an untimed "sudden death" period, in which the first team to score a point is declared the winner.
  • We intend to give teams at least 5 minutes to warm up and at least 5 minutes at halftime. However, these times may be reduced if running behind schedule.
  • Teams are given three timeouts (60 seconds in duration) per game. In overtime, one additional time out will be granted for overtime.
  • 3rd & 4th Grade Boys – full court defense (pressing) will be allowed in the 4th quarter of games when the point differential is less than 10. In that case, the team who is up by 10 points may not press. The team who is down may press. There will be no pressing in the first 3 quarters.
  • 5th & 6th Grade Boys – full court defense (pressing) will be allowed when the point differential is less than 20. In that case, the team who is up by 20 points may not press. The team who is down may press.
  • The tournament format will depend on the number of entries. A bracket will be released as soon as we have a full field of teams or 10 days prior to the tournament.
